CVE-2021-1596

Crash and reload via LLDP memory leak

Published Jul 8, 2021 · Updated Nov 7, 2024

Memory leak in Cisco Video Surveillance 7000 Series IP Cameras before 2.12.4 allows attackers to crash and reload devices via LLDP. The LLDP ingress path incorrectly processes crafted packets and fails to release allocated memory, causing memory consumption to grow continuously. Exploitation requires unauthenticated Layer 2 adjacency in the same broadcast domain, and sustained memory consumption ends in a crash and reload.
