CVE-2021-1542Network attack vector

Unauthenticated administrative access via predictable session identifiers

Published Jun 16, 2021 · Updated Nov 7, 2024

Authentication bypass in Cisco 220 Series Smart Plus Switches before 1.2.0.6 allows remote attackers to access the management interface. The web interface uses weak session management for identifier values, enabling reconnaissance to produce a valid identifier rather than enforcing authentication. The interface is enabled over HTTP and HTTPS by default, and a forged identifier inherits the active session account's privileges, including administrative access.
