CVE-2021-1509Network attack vector

Root command execution or reload via vDaemon overflow

Published May 6, 2021 · Updated Nov 8, 2024

Buffer overflow in Cisco SD-WAN vEdge Software allows remote authenticated users to execute root commands or reload affected routers. The vDaemon process performs insufficient bounds checking while processing malicious traffic, permitting a controllable buffer overflow. Exploitation requires a man-in-the-middle position between Cisco vManage and an associated vEdge device; success grants root command execution or forces a reload.
