Root privilege escalation via deferred malicious-file parsing
Published Nov 18, 2024 · Updated Nov 18, 2024
Privilege escalation in the CLI of Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN Manager allows local users with an Administrator account to gain root privileges. Incorrect privilege assignment causes the system to parse an Administrator-created malicious file later with permissions that yield root access. Exploitation requires local CLI access and a valid Administrator account, but successful exploitation crosses the boundary from product administration to root control.
