Administrator-level malicious patch execution via signature bypass
Published Nov 18, 2024 · Updated Nov 18, 2024
Improper patch signature verification in Cisco SD-WAN Software allows remote authenticated users to boot malicious software images. The Image Signature Verification feature accepts a crafted unsigned patch instead of enforcing a valid digital signature before loading it. Administrator-level credentials and network access to patch management are required, and successful exploitation runs attacker-controlled patch code.
