Root command execution via unvalidated CLI input
Published Mar 24, 2021 · Updated Nov 8, 2024
Command injection in the CLI of Cisco IOS XE SD-WAN Software allows local users to execute operating-system commands as root. The CLI accepts user-supplied commands into a file without sufficient validation, and the device later executes that file's commands with root privileges. Exploitation requires an authenticated low-privileged account, user interaction, an affected router platform, and the nondefault SD-WAN feature.
