CVE-2021-1385Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary host-file access via corefiles path traversal

Published Mar 24, 2021 · Updated Nov 8, 2024

Path traversal in the Cisco IOx corefiles API allows remote authenticated users to read or write arbitrary host files. The getCoreFile path resolver accepts core_filename values whose valid prefix conceals traversal sequences, resolving them outside the shared core_dir. Exploitation requires high-privilege API credentials and an attacker-created directory in the container's shared core_dir; successful requests access host files as root.
