Root code execution or reload via stack overflow
Published Feb 4, 2021 · Updated Nov 8, 2024
Stack overflow in Cisco Small Business RV router firmware allows remote authenticated users to run root code or reload affected devices. Cisco identifies improper input validation in the web management interface and a stack-based buffer overflow but does not disclose the request parameter or function. Valid administrator credentials are required; WAN reachability also requires remote management, which is disabled by default.
