CVE-2021-1336Network attack vector

Root code execution or reload via stack overflow

Published Feb 4, 2021 · Updated Nov 8, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in Cisco Small Business RV router firmware allows remote authenticated users to execute root code or reload devices. The web-based management interface fails to validate attacker-controlled HTTP request data before copying it into a stack-based buffer. Valid administrator credentials are required; the interface is always reachable from the LAN and reaches the WAN only when remote management is enabled.
