CVE-2021-1240

Cross-user code execution via DLL search-path hijacking

Published Jan 13, 2021 · Updated Nov 12, 2024

DLL search-path hijacking in Cisco Proximity Desktop for Windows before 3.1.0 allows local users to execute code as another user. At launch, the application resolves specific DLLs through incorrectly handled directory paths and loads an attacker-planted library from a searched location. Exploitation requires valid Windows credentials, write access to that location, and another user to launch the application; code runs with that user's privileges.
