Unauthenticated policy bypass via flawed packet detection
Published Jan 13, 2021 · Updated Nov 12, 2024
Policy bypass in Cisco Firepower Threat Defense before 6.5.0.5 allows remote attackers to pass crafted traffic through Snort. The Snort application detection engine's undisclosed algorithm handles crafted packets without enforcing the configured policy. No authentication is required, but packets must traverse the device; successful traffic can carry a malicious payload into the protected network.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
