Root-code execution or reload via crafted HTTP input
Published Jan 13, 2021 · Updated Nov 12, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Cisco Small Business RV router firmware allows remote authenticated users to execute root code via HTTP requests. Cisco identifies the locus as the web-based management interface, which improperly validates user-supplied input, but publishes no function or parameter name. Valid administrator credentials and access by local LAN or an enabled remote-management WAN path are required; exploitation runs code as root or reloads the device.
