Data tampering via stack buffer overflow
Published Jul 21, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in NVIDIA vGPU Software allows local users to disclose or alter data or interrupt the host service. The Virtual GPU Manager plugin writes attacker-controlled input past a stack buffer and permits a customized ROP gadget to be placed on the stack. Local low-privilege access is required; affected releases are 8.x before 8.8, 11.x before 11.5, and 12.x before 12.3.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=vGPU version 12.x (prior to 12.3), version 11.x (prior to 11.5) and version 8.x (prior 8.8).
