Local system crash via NULL pointer dereference
Published Jul 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in NVIDIA Windows GPU Display Driver allows local users to crash affected Windows systems through DxgkDdiEscape. The nvlddmkm.sys kernel-mode handler for DxgkDdiEscape dereferences a NULL pointer while processing an escape control call. A low-privileged local user can reach the handler without user interaction; the documented consequence is a system crash, with no confidentiality or integrity impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
