CVE-2021-1079Public exploit

SYSTEM code execution via redirected GameStream log

Published Apr 20, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Local privilege escalation in NVIDIA GeForce Experience before 3.22 allows local users to execute commands as SYSTEM through GameStream. The GameStream service follows an attacker-created NTFS link for nvstreamsvcCurrent.log and copies user-writable settings into the linked recovery batch file. Low-privileged local access is required; GameStream logging and repeated service crashes execute the injected batch commands as SYSTEM.
