App-installation disclosure via invalid notification keys
Published Dec 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Information disclosure in Android 12 NotificationManagerService allows local users to detect installed apps through crafted notification keys. cancelNotificationsFromListener distinguishes valid from invalid attacker-supplied keys instead of handling them uniformly, exposing an observable response difference. Local app execution is required, but query permission and user interaction are not required.
