Local app enumeration via telephony side channel
Published Dec 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Observable discrepancy in Android 12 PhoneInterfaceManager allows local users to determine whether an application is installed. The getMeidForSlot method in PhoneInterfaceManager.java produces an observable discrepancy that reveals installation state without package-query permission. A low-privileged local application can enumerate installed applications without user interaction, but the flaw does not provide data modification or service interruption.
