Bluetooth MAC address disclosure via unredacted logging
Published Dec 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Information disclosure in Android 12 Bluetooth DatabaseManager allows local users with System privileges to read Bluetooth MAC addresses. Several methods wrote unredacted device addresses into BluetoothDatabase log messages; the patch replaces those values with a fixed masked address. Exploitation requires local System-level execution and no user interaction, and the disclosed data is limited to Bluetooth MAC addresses.
