CVE-2021-1004

Local application discovery via spoofed package name

Published Dec 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Missing authorization in Android 12 WifiServiceImpl allows local users to discover whether applications are installed through Wi-Fi APIs. The getConfiguredNetworks method trusted a caller-supplied package name without verifying that the calling UID owned it, bypassing package-query restrictions. A local app needs no additional execution privileges or user interaction; the result reveals application presence but does not grant control of the discovered app.
