Local information disclosure via oversized encoder dimensions
Published Dec 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Android 12 Media Framework allows local users to disclose heap data through the MPEG-4 video encoder. PVInitVideoEncoder fails to reject dimensions above 2048 by 2048 before processing associated heap buffers, permitting a read beyond an allocation. A low-privileged local process can reach the flaw without user interaction; the documented consequence is information disclosure only.
