Local privilege escalation via tapjacked payment dialog
Published Dec 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Tapjacking in Android 12 PaymentDefaultDialog allows local users to change the default payment app through a deceptive overlay. The dialog accepts touch input while another window obscures it, so an overlay can misdirect a tap onto the payment-app confirmation control. Exploitation requires user interaction but no additional execution privileges, and the resulting action replaces the user-approved default payment app.
