Cross-user package disclosure via unchecked user ID
Published Dec 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Information disclosure in ShortcutService in Google Cloud Android 12 allows local users to identify packages supported by another user's launcher. The isRequestPinItemSupported method accepts a caller-supplied user ID without verifying that it matches the caller's user, then queries that user's default launcher support. A low-privileged local app needs no user interaction and can infer cross-user package availability without modifying data or interrupting the device.
