Remote privilege escalation via unchecked technology count
Published Dec 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Android 11 and 12 NFC tag activation allows remote attackers to gain System execution privileges. NfcTag::discoverTechnologies increments mNumTechList after erroneous activation handling without first enforcing the technology-list bound. A crafted NFC interaction reaches the flaw without authentication or user interaction and can corrupt memory in the privileged NFC process.
