Contact disclosure via untrusted photo-cropping handler
Published Dec 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Information disclosure in Android 9 through 12 allows local users to read a user's contacts through the photo-cropping flow. PhotoSelectionHandler.doCropPhoto sends contact photos to any registered crop handler instead of restricting the intent to trusted system apps. Exploitation requires a malicious cropping app and user interaction; the disclosed consequence is contact access, not data modification.
