Local privilege escalation via missing cross-profile check
Published Dec 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Missing authorization in Android 11 PackageManagerService allows local users to gain cross-profile privileges without user interaction. enforceCrossUserOrProfilePermission omits the INTERACT_ACROSS_PROFILES permission check, allowing a caller to cross a user or profile boundary. A locally installed app is required, and successful exploitation grants permissions across profiles rather than remote access.
