Local privilege escalation via unchecked size arithmetic
Published Apr 19, 2023 · Updated Feb 5, 2025
Integer overflow in Android SoC PowerVR kernel drivers allows local users to gain elevated privileges through out-of-bounds heap access. PVRSRVBridgePhysmemImportSparseDmaBuf fails to check a size before arithmetic, allowing the calculation to overflow and produce out-of-bounds heap access. A low-privileged local process can reach the driver without user interaction and use the resulting memory corruption to elevate privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
