Local privilege escalation via unchecked submission size
Published Apr 19, 2023 · Updated Feb 6, 2025
Integer overflow in the PowerVR kernel driver for Android SoC allows local users to elevate privileges through a crafted GPU submission. PVRSRVBridgeRGXKickTA3D omits a size check, allowing a submission-size calculation to overflow and produce out-of-bounds heap access. Local application access is required; no user interaction is needed, and successful exploitation gains elevated privileges.
