Local file disclosure via MediaStore downgrade
Published Oct 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Information disclosure in Android 11 apexd allows local users to expose the wrong file through an unintended MediaStore downgrade. The RevertActiveSessions function in apexd.cpp can downgrade MediaStore during an APEX session revert and share a file other than the one intended. Exploitation requires user interaction but no additional execution privileges, and the consequence is limited to local data disclosure.
