CVE-2021-0701

Local privilege escalation via unchecked allocation size

Published Jun 15, 2023 · Updated Dec 18, 2024

Integer overflow in the PowerVR kernel driver on Android SoCs allows local users to elevate privileges through out-of-bounds heap access. The PVRSRVBridgeSyncPrimOpCreate path omits a size check before calculating a heap access, allowing integer wraparound to move access beyond the allocated buffer. Exploitation requires local code execution on a device using the affected driver; no user interaction or additional execution privileges are needed.
