Local privilege escalation via list-removal race
Published Oct 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Use-after-free in Imagination Technologies PowerVR GPU for Android SoCs allows local users to escalate privileges via a list-removal race. The dllist_remove_node function removes a list node without sufficient synchronization, so concurrent execution can access freed memory. A low-privileged local process must win the race; no user interaction or additional execution privileges are required.
