Local information disclosure via incorrect bounds check
Published Dec 17, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in MediaTek's ALAC decoder on Android 8.1, 9.0, 10.0, and 11.0 allows local users to disclose process memory. An incorrect bounds check lets crafted decoder input read past the intended buffer, but MediaTek has not disclosed the affected function or input field. Exploitation requires local access to an affected MediaTek-based device, needs no additional execution privileges or user interaction, and is limited to information disclosure.
