CVE-2021-0617

Local information disclosure via APE heap over-read

Published Oct 25, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in MediaTek chipset software on Android 10 and 11 allows local users to disclose memory through the APE extractor. The extractor reads beyond an allocated heap buffer while handling APE input, allowing adjacent memory to be returned outside the buffer. Exploitation requires local access but no additional execution privileges or user interaction, and the reported impact is information disclosure only.
