CVE-2021-0595

Work-profile PIN bypass via incomplete task inspection

Published Oct 6, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper authentication in Android 8.1, 9, 10, and 11 allows local users to access a locked work profile after logging in. RootWindowContainer.lockAllProfileTasks checked only a task's top nonfinishing activity or its result target, leaving a work-profile activity unlocked when it remained lower in the task. Exploitation requires access to a logged-in device with a PIN-locked work profile, needs no further privileges or user interaction, and exposes that profile's content.
