Local privilege escalation via Bluetooth picker tapjacking
Published Jul 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Tapjacking in Android Settings 8.1 through 11 allows local users to cause selection of an unintended Bluetooth device via an overlay. DevicePickerActivity permits overlay windows to obscure its Bluetooth device picker and accepts the resulting user touch as a device selection. Exploitation requires a local malicious app able to draw the overlay and user interaction, and the resulting selection enables local privilege escalation.
