Local privilege escalation via unchecked sensor-state write
Published Mar 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in the Android kernel Neural Core driver allows local users with System execution privileges to escalate privileges. iaxxx_core_sensor_change_state in iaxxx-module.c fails to check bounds before writing while changing a sensor state. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges on an affected Pixel device, needs no user interaction, and grants higher local privileges.
