CVE-2021-0458

Local information disclosure via integer-overflowed driver read

Published Mar 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Information disclosure in Android's FingerTipS kernel driver allows local users with System privileges to read sensitive memory. The fts_driver_test_write function fails to validate user-supplied data, allowing an integer overflow before an out-of-bounds memory read. Exploitation requires local System-level code execution and no user interaction; the disclosed data can support a separate kernel-privilege exploit chain.
