Contact disclosure via returned result intent
Published Apr 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Information disclosure in Android Contacts 8.1, 9, 10, and 11 allows local users to read contact data through QuickContactActivity. QuickContactActivity.onActivityResult returns result intent data that the Contacts code does not use, exposing a URI permission grant to the calling app. Exploitation requires a local malicious app and user interaction; no additional execution privileges are required, and the impact is limited to contact-data disclosure.
