Local privilege escalation via obscured Bluetooth permission dialog
Published Feb 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Tapjacking in Android 8.1 through 11 allows local users to gain phonebook access by obscuring a Bluetooth permission dialog. BluetoothPermissionActivity.onCreate permits non-system overlay windows to cover the phonebook permission prompt instead of hiding them. Exploitation requires a malicious app with user execution privileges, an active Bluetooth connection request, and user interaction with the obscured prompt.
