Information disclosure via WAV extractor integer overflow
Published Jan 11, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Android 8.0 through 11 Media Framework allows remote attackers to disclose information through a crafted WAV file. WAVSource::read computes remaining bytes from WAV metadata with signed fields and an unchecked backward position, allowing integer wraparound to permit a write beyond the output buffer. Exploitation requires user interaction to process the crafted file; the documented consequence is information disclosure without code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
