CVE-2021-0309

Account access via unchecked credential-permission caller UID

Published Jan 11, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Information disclosure in Android 8.0 through 11 allows local users to gain account access through a credential-permission prompt. GrantCredentialsPermissionActivity accepts a grantee UID without verifying that the activity's calling UID matches it or belongs to the system, so a malicious app can act as a confused deputy. Exploitation requires local low-privileged code and user interaction; the resulting access is limited to disclosed account information and credentials.
