Privilege escalation via unfiltered obscured touches
Published Feb 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Tapjacking in Android PackageInstaller 8.1 through 10 allows local users to gain elevated permissions through obscured interface taps. PackageInstaller permission and role activities did not set filterTouchesWhenObscured, so they accepted touches while another app covered their interface. Exploitation requires a malicious app on the device and user interaction; successful taps can approve permissions or privileged roles.
