Privileged local service interruption via undisclosed access control
Published Nov 17, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper access control in Intel Ethernet Controller E810 firmware before 1.5.5.6 allows local users to cause a denial of service. Intel identifies the affected locus only as the controller firmware and does not disclose which access-control decision mishandles privileged input. High local privileges are required, and published materials do not distinguish whether exploitation hangs, crashes, or reboots the controller.
