CVE-2020-9791

Code execution via AIFF parser out-of-bounds read

Published Jun 9, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

An out-of-bounds read in Audio allows attackers to execute code on affected iOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS systems via a crafted AIFF file. The AudioToolboxCore AIFF parser fails to validate user-supplied data before reading an allocated structure, causing a read past its end. The target must visit a malicious page or open the file; the over-read discloses process data and enables code execution when chained with another flaw.
