Remote code execution via shaded HikariConfig gadget
Published Mar 2, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Deserialization in FasterXML jackson-databind 2.x before 2.9.10.4 allows remote attackers to execute code through crafted JSON. SubTypeValidator omits org.apache.hadoop.shaded.com.zaxxer.hikari.HikariConfig from its blocked subtype set, allowing class-name polymorphic typing to instantiate and populate the gadget from attacker-controlled properties. Exploitation requires untrusted JSON input, permissive polymorphic typing, and the shaded HikariConfig class on the application classpath.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
