Stored XSS via malformed uploaded-file titles
Published Mar 25, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in Micro Focus Vibe before 4.0.7 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript when another user views a crafted file page. Server-side sanitization leaves an unclosed image tag in an uploaded file title unchanged, and client-side markup repair converts its onerror text into an executable attribute. Exploitation requires an authenticated attacker to upload the titled file and an authenticated victim to visit its page, where the script runs in the victim's browser context.
