Subscriber-level post overwrite and deletion via unchecked AJAX
Published Apr 7, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Missing authorization in IMPress for IDX Broker before 2.6.2 allows remote authenticated users to create, replace, or delete posts. The idx_ajax_create_dynamic_page and idx_ajax_delete_dynamic_page handlers accept AJAX requests without capability or nonce checks and pass attacker-controlled titles or IDs to WordPress post APIs. Subscriber access is sufficient to publish arbitrary wrapper pages, overwrite a selected post with a blank page, or permanently delete it.
