Authenticated code execution via package upload
Published Mar 16, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in Umbraco CMS 8.5.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute server-side code. The Install Package functionality accepts an attacker-supplied package containing a dangerous file type and allows the server environment to process it. A valid authenticated session is required, and successful exploitation permits unauthorized server-side code execution within the CMS process context.
