Local denial of service via unchecked IOCTL input
Published Feb 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Denial of service in Epson iProjection 2.30 and earlier allows local users to crash the host via crafted IOCTL requests to the EMP_MPAU.sys driver. The driver exposes the EMPMPAUIO device and fails to validate input values for IOCTLs 0x9C402406 and 0x9C40240A, while 0x9C402402 can trigger a null-pointer dereference. Exploitation requires local access to the Windows installation and can produce a blue-screen outage; unspecified additional impact is not established.
