CVE-2020-9450Public exploit

Local anti-ransomware bypass via unauthenticated REST API

Published May 25, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Improper authentication in Acronis True Image 2020 24.5.22510 allows local users to disable anti-ransomware monitoring via its REST API. The anti_ransomware_service.exe microservice accepts unauthenticated PUT requests on localhost port 6109 that alter process whitelists and excluded paths. Any unprivileged local account can whitelist a malicious executable or exclude an entire drive, leaving those files outside ransomware monitoring.
