Unauthenticated code execution via method-agnostic allowlist
Published Feb 24, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Incorrect authorization in controllers/admin.js in Total.js CMS 13 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through a widgets POST request. The controller's unauthenticated allowlist treated /api/widgets/ as permitted for every HTTP method, so POST requests bypassed the administrative session check. The bypass reaches widget creation without credentials and becomes server-side code execution when chained with the widget JavaScript injection flaw.
